A Fun Weekend

This weekend was great ... lots of family time and time spent outside. Friday night we all went up to Bent Tree to swim and have dinner. No sooner had we finished dinner than we were evacuated from the pool area due to thunderstorms. We made it to the car just in time! The kids were disappointed to have their evening cut short, but when they realized they would be able to see High School Musical 2 instead, they cheered up. Per their review, HSM2 was even better than the first, and Charlie was very excited that there was golf in it.

Saturday was another fun day. We swam at home in the morning and cooked out for lunch. After lunch, the Wilburns came by to say "hello" and everyone went crazy running around and playing in the house for a while. That evening, Chuck and I had a much-needed date night. We went to Trader Vic's, which was a lot of fun and great food. We had planned to go by the hospital to see the Bozmans, but Tara had still been having complications following her delivery, so we met up with the Stringfields for dessert instead.

Saturday night, we were blessed to have Immanuel and Pauline babysit for the kiddos. (Ileana is out of town for 2 weeks so we are without a babysitter!) She introduced us to Immanuel and Pauline, who she and James met at DTS. They are also newlyweds and are going through the Seminary, and live near Ileana and James down at Swiss Towers. But unlike Ileana and James, Immanuel and Pauline are from India, and plan on returning to their native country when they are done with the program. Chuck and I were glad to have the kids around some people who look different from 99% of the people they encounter in their little quiet Dallas lives. Immanuel kept them enthralled with his stories, and Pauline got a dose of what it is like to have a new baby with Cooper in her care! We look forward to having our new friends over again soon. They leave tomorrow to lead a youth retreat in California.

Since he's almost 5 months, we are starting Cooper on solids. Check out the photo to see how much he enjoys his rice cereal! What a mess!

Today we started out at church -- the last service ever at Lake Highlands HS! We will be glad to be in the permanent facility. Chuck spoiled us after church by cooking amazing french toast for brunch. After Coop woke up from his nap, we drove up to Bent Tree again for family golf. Even Cooper was included this time, which was a first! The kids did well given the heat -- Mimi was excited to break out her pink clubs again, and when she found a PINK golf tee, she was over the moon! Charlie is really hitting it well after our recent lessons -- he will be the first to tell you so, too! I got to hit a couple of balls after feeding Cooper, but I still have a long way to go before I am able to beat my personal best of 46. Cooper seemed to enjoy being outside on the cart, and he even wore his "Golf Pro ... some day" t-shirt to get in the mood.

After golf, we went over to dad's to swim and hang out for a while. It was Tucker's birthday today but he was out on the links with Travis. Can't believe he is 15, especially given the fact he was born the week I started college! That really makes me feel OLD! During swimming, Mimi started calling Dad "Poppy Popcorn" which actually is kind of fitting!

We went straight from swimming at Pop-pop and Mimsie's to swimming at the McFarlane's for a Community Group social. Other than a minor melt-down from Mimi, it was a lot of fun. Cooking out and catching up with everyone was great, and we were blessed to meet little Woods Peterson, only a week old and cute as can be! I'm sure Cooper and him will be great friends someday, but right now Cooper seems so HUGE next to him.

Whew! Now the kids are in bed and I'm about to get some work done getting us organized for the week. Chuck is downtown at his office working, so the weekend is officially over.
